The Freeway Blogger

He’s right. If one person in every city put up as many antiwar signs as he does, you couldn’t drive anywhere without seeing one.

Bitterness

Of course people are bitter (although I would widen it to include almost all of America outside the the top couple of percent of income earners). The only thing that bugs me is the assumption that this bitterness is misplaced or the response is wrong-headed. Should you embrace a system that is going to kick you in the ass perpetually?

The Democratic race is certainly getting bitter, at least from the Clinton side. And McCain apparently wants her as the candidate because she’d be easier to beat. Obama is an unknown quantity to the established politico class, and this makes them nervous.

His comment about the working class being bitter is undeniably true. And while some see it as a blunder, it may prove to have been politically astute as well as honest and blunt.

California here we come…

500 miles north of where we started from…

Sue and I moved from L..A. to Connecticut, near where I grew up, in Feb. 2007. For a variety of reasons, we’d been thinking of selling our current house and renting. Then, out of the blue and without us putting the house on the market, a real estate agent sent us a letter saying said he had a client who once viewed our house, liked it, and was there a possibility we would consider selling. I could almost see his jaw hitting the ground when I called him and said yes.

We close escrow May 1. Sue is a CPA / CFA and wants to attend a highly regarded nine month Masters program in Taxation at Golden Gate University in San Francisco.

So, hello, San Francisco. You are a world class city with spectacular amounts of political and artistic energy. See you soon.

If you live there, please email or leave comments. We’ll need lots of help figuring out where to rent in the city, etc. and look forward to meeting you.

Burning the future. Coal in America

Burning The Future: Coal in America - Trailer from coalmovie on Vimeo.

Burning the Future: Coal in America, a brutally honest documentary film, examines explosive forces that have set in motion a groundswell of conflict between the Coal Industry and residents of West Virginia. Our heros demonstrate strength of character in their fight to arouse the nation’s help in protecting their mountains, saving their families, and preserving their way of life.

All the cooling is done passively. It has tinted, heat resistant windows and a central courtyard provides ventilation into interior windows.
