Latest Rasmussen poll: Obama +10 over Clinton in NH

The poll

Meanwhile Bill Clinton said media bias against Hillary will force them to go negative against Obama. They really are despicable aren’t they? Let’s hope the Divisive Duo get derailed, and soon, as their banging the rattle on the high chair in anger is already becoming tiresome.

Canadian lumber companies reduce emissions 62%

logging

“Greenhouse gas emissions were 62 per cent less in 2006 than in 1990, despite increased production volumes during that period,” the report states.

Does more remain to be done? Sure. But it’s heartening to see an industry usually seen as the enemy by environmentalists instead working with them, as happened here, to cut emissions.  More of this everywhere, please.

RIAA chief: ripping ok

RIAA

Further, he says the WaPo story was “just wrong” but also says their attorney “misspoke” when he said ripping was illegal. Hmmm. Those two statements certainly do appear to be in conflict, ie, WaPo then was simply reporting what the lawyer said, eh?

Sadly for RIAA though, Sony just announced they will sell non-DRM mp3s. This means all the major record companies have now abandoned DRM, so there’s little reason left for RIAA to exist. Perhaps they can find gainful employment in a related field, like working for bottom feeder collection agencies or ambulance chaser law firms, it would seem a good fit for them.

Mitt Romney robo-call

Dave Sifry, founder of Technorati, got a phone call from Mitt Romney! Not only did Mitt beg for money, he said he got Dave’s number from his dad. So Dave called his dad who said “this is phony, this is fabrication, this is bullshit.” Dave then called the number that Mitt called from and it was someone’s cell phone…

Most bizarre. But still, somehow quite fitting for the robotic Romney campaign.

Betcha Mitt didn’t foresee that a highly visible geek would do a blog post about it.

Option ARMs. More pain for California

Map of Misry. Option ARMs. BusinessWeek

The percentage of Option ARM mortgages in California is sharply higher than the national average, reaching 25-30% in southern California. With these mortgages, you can choose how much to pay each month - until a trigger amount owed is reached, then the payments go much higher and stay there.

Click the BusinessWeek image to view full-sized. Scary, especially if you live in California.

Heat buildings with bodies

Stockholm is collecting heat from their too-warm railroad station that 125,000 people use each day, heating it with their bodies, and piping that heat to help warm an office building across the street.
