Kerry, Gingrich: Climate change is real
Gingrich favors a market solution to global warming, to which Kerry responded, that’s like saying ‘Barry Bonds, go investigate steroids.’
Indeed, one of the biggest blockades to reversing global warming is the short-term profit motive of capitalism. As long as corporations are legally mandated to put profits before everything else, long-term solutions to global warming, which will cost money, will have much less chance of happening.
The other blockade, of course, is the Flat Earth Society in the White House.
LAPD anti-gang tactics target Blacks and Latinos

LAPD has a new noxious tactic. They sweep neighborhoods, arresting ’suspected’ gang members for minor violations, then charge them with felonies.
That those arrested would be charged with misdemeanors anyplace else simply shows how LAPD is perverting the law, and brace yourself for this shocker, they get to decide who a ’suspected’ gang member might be. So, if they’re wrong, an innocent gets arrested for a felony and probably stays in jail because no one can go his bail.
Teens have been arrested simply because they were dressed in baggy pants. And then charged with a felony.
Those arrested are uniformly Black and Latino, funny how LAPD anti-gang squads never seem to target White or Asian gangs in this way.
Are there gangs who do nasty things? Absolutely. But thuggish, justice-perverting tactics like this just throw gasoline on the fire.

Read the book, and watch the movie.
The book is an easy read, yet highly insightful, and details a country gone mad on debt fueled by predatory lenders, thinking the party will never end. In debt? Just borrow more. Need a new car? Take it out of the equity in the house (if you’re lucky enough to have a house, of course.) But the interest rate just keeps getting higher, and then the debt load becomes crushing.
All those people getting crushed? That money is going somewhere. Thus, someone is getting very wealthy from all this predatory lending, and I bet it’s not you.
