IRS attacks liberal church

Retired minister George Regas made antiwar comments in a sermon in 2004. Now, just before another election, the IRS is demanding the church turn over documents related to that. The current minister says he will present this to the congregation on Sunday and expects their answer will be No. The church, All Saints Episcopal of Pasadena, CA, is liberal, affluent, and has a long history of activism.

Regas, who has spoken at several ANSWER LA antiwar rallies, did not endorse any candidates, rather he said Jesus would have told Bush that his strategy of preemptive war ‘has led to disaster’” For this, the IRS, in a clearly politically motivated move, has now suddenly decided All Saints could lose their non-profit status.

All Saints has the will and resources for a fight. I hope they refuse to turn over documents, and we should support them 100%.

Arctic sea ice vanishing

The evidence is clear. NASA photos show the ice has been receding quickly in the past two years. This speed of the melt is vastly quicker than supercomputer predictions.

Thus, climate change is happening way faster than previously expected. Meanwhile in DC, the deluded denizens of the White House in defiance of science and logic, continue to pretend nothing is wrong. History will not be kind to them.

Global warming affects everything in all manner of ways. For example, polar bears may well become extinct, and soon too.

Here in L.A., my friend Richard Grossman brings sad news that his beloved husky, Dassi, became seriously ill with Ehrlichiosis, a disease previously only known in tropical areas. He’s trying to save her, it’s very expensive, maybe you can help - Save Dassi.

We are not going to let him take office,” said Gerardo Fernandez, the spokesman for López Obrador’s Democratic Revolution Party. “I don’t see the usurper government … lasting for six years.”

Events in Mexico of late clearly show a populace near revolt. A rigged election, the uprising in Oaxaca, now Oprador refusing to go quietly.

The Pope on Islam

If he’s going to talk about religion and violence, shouldn’t at least a passing reference be made to the sometimes bloody history of Catholicism? Just wondering…

The Spanish Inquisition, The Crusades, the subjection and genocide of indigeneous populations in the name of saving their souls, the indifference of the Pope Pius XII to the Holocaust, well, “clean up your own backyard,” like the song says.

Update: ‘God’s Rottweiler‘ AKA The Pope has issued a non-apology apology.
