Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie had a baby. So what? Why is this continuing front page news?

PS The proud parents appear to have seriously right wing politics…

They may be offered roles in the filming of Ayn Rand’s ‘Atlas Shrugged’, and are apparent devotees of her philosophy, she being the cult leader of the ‘Greed is Good’ bunch. Selfishness is another of their favored ‘virtues.’ Ditto for unbridled predatory capitalism. Rand provided the philosophical rationalization for the avaricious imperialism so favored by today’s neocons.

It’s not a stretch to assume Rand enthusiast Angelina Jolie’s name has been brought up. Brad Pitt, also a fan, is rumored to be among the names suggested for lead male character John Galt.

He is a divider, not a uniter. And even in this era of ultra-political polarization he’s willing to tilt to those who want to divide Americans rather than those who would unite them.

In fact, as a zillion analysts — many of them conservatives — have noted, there is ZERO CHANCE this amendment will pass. Bush is doing this to fire up his conservative base, and try and contrast the GOP with the Democrats, and get his religious right political troops out to help the GOP hold on to Congress in 2006.

That’s our president. Gay-bashing for votes. Stomach-turning, isn’t he?
