Democrats kill their own

From Political Wire

Mother Jones reports that as part of the effort to push Iraq War vet Paul Hackett from the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate in Ohio, there was a “whisper campaign” suggesting Hackett committed war crimes.

“In late November, Hackett got a call from Sen. Harry Reid. ‘I hear there’s a photo of you mistreating bodies in Iraq. Is it true?’ demanded the Senate minority leader.”

The party of non-opposition made sure a candidate who genuinely and loudly opposed the insane policies of Bush was silenced, further proof of the complicity of Democratic leadership in the neocon agenda. Again folks, the problem with congressional Democrats is not that they are cowards, it’s that they are complicit. They will allow no real dissent.

Harry Reid’s slime of Hackett is  no different from how the Bushies destroy people. Reid is part of the problem, and those who look to him for solutions are deluding themselves.

Rogue president continues same

Greenland ice cap breaking up at twice the rate it was five years ago, says scientist Bush tried to gag.

A satellite study of the Greenland ice cap shows that it is melting far faster than scientists had feared - twice as much ice is going into the sea as it was five years ago. The implications for rising sea levels - and climate change - could be dramatic.

Yet, a few weeks ago, when I - a Nasa climate scientist - tried to talk to the media about these issues following a lecture I had given calling for prompt reductions in the emission of greenhouse gases, the Nasa public affairs team - staffed by political appointees from the Bush administration - tried to stop me doing so. I was not happy with that, and I ignored the restrictions. The first line of Nasa’s mission is to understand and protect the planet.

Remind me again how the torture-loving science-hating religious fundamentalist Bushies are different from the Taliban they so loudly and bellicosely oppose.

Hapa

Hapa.- Maui CDWe saw Hapa last night in Santa Barbara. A quite amazing show; Hawaiian and Polynesian music, some quite political in an understated way. Hula too, as hula is a bedrock of Hawaiian culture. Plus chants by Charles Ka’upu. Don’t miss them if they come to your town.

“Maui” is their latest CD, they call it Polynesian music for the 21st century, and it is.

More later, it’s midnight, and at 8 am I leave for S.F. for a long weekend.
