Will they bring back flogging too?

European music and film industries now officially scary

Guardian: “The music and film industries are demanding that the European parliament extends the scope of proposed anti-terror laws to help them prosecute illegal downloaders.”

This from the generally apolitical Adam Curry.

    Great find.

This is the base problem with the way the terror laws are written here in the US. Their application has already been expanded to go after “eco-terrorists” whose main crime was going after animal testing Huntington labs, one of the most egregious animal testers. There have been applications to extend terror laws to “narco-terrorists.”

How long until that illegal downloader is detained without access to a lawyer?

If there is anybody out there that thinks the anti-terrorist laws were brought in to attack terrorists they are rather simple minded. They were brought in to protect the state and the corporate greed machine against what THEY consider terrorists. Not to protect the citizens against terorism.
