Valerie Plame and WMDs

Lefti on the News blogs via The Wayne Madsen Report that Valerie Plame was outed because the CIA intercepted shipments of nerve gas into Iraq "which was intended to be hidden in Iraq and later used as evidence that Saddam Hussein was in possession of weapons of mass destruction. U.S. intelligence sources revealed that this was a major reason the Bush White House targeted Plame and her network"

Might even be true. Plus, it’s a given that the public is only seeing the tip of a long-festering internal war.

My take: Watergate was something along these lines too, the CIA or someone like them did in Nixon. Forget the Woodward-Bernstein nonsense about meeting Deep Throat secretly in a parking garage where he would give them juicy info. Yeah, right. As if Nixon, the President, didn’t have the resources to have them followed to find out who Deep Throat was. Especially since Woodward and Bernstein were trumpeting their "secret meetings" in the WaPo every day. Hello, here we are! And we’re going to the parking garage tonight, so don’t follow us!

Watergate was probably some nasty internal power struggle that erupted into the open and took down a president. May lightning strike twice.

Which is not to say the thugs at CIA are to be lauded. Given their bloodstained history of toppling governments, assassination, backing death squads, running gulags, etc., well I’m just not real inclined to give then the benefit of the doubt.

"Tribal war inna Babylon" is a line from a classic reggae song, and that’s precisely what we’re seeing.
