The hits just keep a’coming!

The hits just keep a’coming!

Four stories down I noted conservative Andrew Sullivan has given up on Bush. Now even loudmouth Bill O’Reilly is having doubts. This is a sea change, folks.

Bill O’Reilly skeptical about Bush

Conservative television news anchor Bill O’Reilly said on Tuesday he was now skeptical about the Bush administration and apologized to viewers for supporting prewar claims that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction.

Just when you thought it…

Just when you thought it was safe…

Mydoom mutants go on atttack.

The Mydoom virus has spawned two new variants, which are seeking to cash in on the success of the original.

Interestingly, this new variant, which also attacks Microsoft.com, apparently DID, unlike the original, knocking that website off the Net.

According to net monitoring firm Netcraft this attack may have been responsible for disrupting the smooth running of the Microsoft website on Monday morning when it was temporarily unavailable.

Kevin Cooper wins stay of…

Kevin Cooper wins stay of execution!

US Supremes smackdown Calif. Atty Gen. Lockyer

Gov. Schwarzenegger said no stay of execution. The 9th US Court of Appeals overruled him and ordered a stay of execution and a new trial for Kevin Cooper based on new evidence, i.e., the apparently tampered-with and planted evidence.

In a grotesque move, California Attorney General Bill Lockyer, an alleged Democrat, appealed and was immediately slapped down by the US Supreme Court who unanimously refused to hear the case.

Tell me again what the difference between Democrats and Republicans is, I keep forgetting. There was a time when Democrats would oppose the death penalty, when there was actually palpable difference between them and Republicans. And, of course, those were the exact same times when they ruled the Senate, House, and Presidency. But then we are talking here about the California Democratic Party, who were so lame and out of touch they couldn’t even hold on to the governorship in this strongly Democratic state.

On to happier things. This is a huge victory! Kevin Cooper has won a new trial. We did the impossible!

A sticky and widening scandal

A sticky and widening scandal

Trader Joe’s, a beloved specialty food chain here in California, has been caught selling low grade junky maple syrup as Grade A quality. In New England, where I was raised, this is a very serious affair indeed.

Henry Marckres, who heads the Vermont agriculture department’s testing laboratory, said one sample he tested was close to commercial grade, which federal regulators have limited to uses such as curing tobacco and bacon.

The problem, Marckres said, is “someone who buys this stuff probably wouldn’t ever buy a bottle of maple syrup again.”

This explains why Trader Joe’s maple syrup was $8 a quart, while real Grade A syrup sells for $10-15 a quart in New England - where it was made - and much more in California where it is trucked in.

Selling inferior grades as Grade A is simply unheard of in New England! However, in those rare instances when it does occur, a suitably New England punishment is arranged, and the miscreant is tossed naked into a poison ivy patch.

Be scared Trader Joe’s, be very scared.

Sign of the times

From DailyKos

Sullivan flips out on Bush.

I don’t respect Andrew Sullivan nor the New Republic, but his Sullivan piece in the New Republic is something to behold.

Something snapped in Sullivan’s mind, and the former Bush fanatic seems to have lost all respect for Dear Leader.

Andrew Sullivan is a well-known right wing blogger who is crosiing over into mainstream media. I agree with Kos, for him to be bashing Bush is quite extraordinary.
