Howard Dean may opt out of public matching funds
The Dean campaign has raised and spent so much money that it may choose to not take public financing of the campaign - which would limit to amount that could be spent.
This is significant, as it demonstrates Dean is confident he can raise enormous amounts of money, and therefore must have serious big money people lining up behind him.
That would be ruling class people who wish to see Dubya be the second Bush who was a one-term president.

US Attorney General John Ashcroft recently said, while speaking about national security, “We cannot overlook the threat posed by United States citizens.”

The Los Angeles Times “is investigating potentially more damaging charges against the governor-elect.”
It has been amusing to watch all those strictly moral Republicans who are shocked, just shocked, at the moral decay of America, suddenly decide that Arnold’s piggish behavior is ok with them — even if they attacked Clinton for his sexual behavior. Hey at least Clinton had consenting sex with an adult woman, and didn’t act like an oversexed dimwitted 13 year old boy trying to cop a feel.
