MAGA clowns running IRS now want to hire back fired workers to do customer support as contractors. Even though they won’t have experience. They also want to use the magic of AI to answer questions! I’m a as a taxpro, I guarantee AI can’t accurately answer anything complicated about taxes.
AI chokes on enormous sets of data. Like US tax code, which isn’t just in one place. And changes every year. “Oh, hi inexperienced IRS support, if I amend my 2022 S Corp return, can I carryforward [obscure credit].” Answering this requires actual people with expertise!
“I don’t understand why they have let so many experienced people go, and then are hiring new people who have no experience and will take years to get up to speed on what they need to know to help taxpayers.”
Because they are incompetent ideologue idiots?

Specialists used to answer these complicated tax questions. But they’ve mostly been fired or assigned elsewhere.
My prediction of the coming tax season. It’ll be a train wreck. 25% of IRS employees are already gone. They have been fired or took forced retirement. Blame MAGA, not the remaining IRS employees for the mess that is coming.
