PS, Last night at the meeting a woman in the audience said, my next door neighbor is an Auschwitz survivor, and she said many concentration camp survivors landed in the US in New Orleans and that it was the African-Americans and Creoles of New Orleans who opened their homes and hearts, feeding and housing them, until they were ready to move on. Someone else noted that New Orleans was first built where it is, on a swamp, because it was a convenient place for slave ships to unload slaves.
