Travelling and the Net

I’ve been travelling a fair amount lately. Wireless and high speed net access is everywhere; airports, hotels, plus of course all those unsecured wireless nets just waiting to be jumped on. I’ve been online since the pre-Net days of BBS’ing in the early 80’s and it amazes me how ubitquitous the Net is.

Flying demonstrates how useful podcasts are. Rather than watching an inane movie, listen to podcasts of your choosing on your mp3 player instead.

But yikes, travelling this way sure involves lots of wires and plugs and chargers. Notebook PCs, cell phones, and mp3 players require lots of peripheral gear!

In the hotel room I listen to Net Radio, podcasts, or Yahoo LaunchCast (the pay version without the ads that comes with the inexpensive Yahoo Plus.) Nice!
