Bush polls down. Terror alert up!
Pardon my skepticism, but this latest terror alert is highly suspect, coming as it does as Bush’s poll numbers hit all time lows. He’s done this before, issuing a “terror” alert” when his poll numbers were bad.
The alert is vague and offers no actual information
Ashcroft said he had no information on where or how any future attacks might occur.
But he said Al Qaeda — blamed for the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks — has declared preparations for an attack on the United States were nearly complete.
Those two statements appear contradictory. You can not say you know nothing about an attack then say an attack is assured and imminent – because then people might say you were making shit up.
Some critics, including presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Sen. John Kerry, questioned the Bush administration’s policies on security.
“We deserve a president of the United States who doesn’t make homeland security a photo opportunity and the rhetoric of a campaign,” Kerry said in Seattle.
