WTO slaps down Bush

U.S. loses ruling over its steel tariffs

The United States is facing up to $2.2 billion in European Union trade sanctions within weeks after a World Trade Organization appeals panel ruled Monday that U.S. tariffs on imported steel are illegal.

Bush raised the tariffs in a transparent political ploy to enrich Big Steel and grab the votes of steelworkers. It appears his ploy just blew up in his face.
