Brian’s Buzz

Brian’s Buzz, a website and newsletter about Windows by one of the best in the business, has been detailing just how bad things are in the world of Windows security holes and endless patches.

Oct 2. Exploit of broken MS patch is ‘in the wild’

I reported in a previous newsletter that a critical Microsoft security patch does not actually close the hole it was intended to correct. Flawed patch MS03-032 continues to allow attackers to silently install and run malicious programs on PCs that merely visit an infected Web page.

Now virus attacks that take advantage of this flaw have appeared “in the wild,” on Web pages that infect Windows without warning. Unbelievably, Microsoft still doesn’t have an update that corrects the faulty patch — despite the fact that the company acknowledged the error on Sept. 8

Brian also has an e-book, Spam Proof Your Email Address, for $9.95 with info that really works. I’m using it now on my business website, www.bomoco.com. Y’see, spammers search websites for email addresses, so we need to hide the addresses from them. Brian shows us how. The e-book is free to paid subscribers of his newsletter. (You can subscribe for free, paid subs get more info)

My business website used to have email addresses where spammers could find them. Thanks to Brian, while you the web surfer can email me, and see my email address, a spammer no longer can find the address. And it’s simple to do and free!
