Pam Reed, superwoman
She did it again, the second year in a row. Pam Reed won the 135 mile Badwater Ultramarathon, blowing away the competition, finishing in 26 1/2 hours.
Did I mention this Ultra starts in Death Valley, the lowest spot in the nation, and finishes at Whitney Portal, which is about 7,000 feet? The final several miles are so steep that cars drive slowly up that road to prevent overheating. And speaking of overheating, temperatures during the race reached 125 degrees.
Don’t ask why she does it, just be in awe of her accomplishment.
