Finally, a cabinet member is stating the obvious truth.
An “insatiable” appetite in the United States for illegal drugs is to blame for much of the violence ripping through Mexico, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said on Wednesday.
Legalization, as someone said, is the least bad choice to make here, and would certainly stop the drug cartels and the violence.
“Our insatiable demand for illegal drugs fuels the drug trade. Our inability to prevent weapons from being illegally smuggled across the border to arm these criminals causes the death of police officers, soldiers and civilians.”
How are the guns getting there? Who is buying them here and how are they being smuggled across the border? The possibilities for massive corruption is obvious.
On Saturday, I will extend my congratulations to Senator Obama and my support for his candidacy. This has been a long and hard-fought campaign, but as I have always said, my differences with Senator Obama are small compared to the differences we have with Senator McCain and the Republicans.
I have said throughout the campaign that I would strongly support Senator Obama if he were the Democratic Party’s nominee, and I intend to deliver on that promise.
“I’m not a member of an organized party, I’m a Democrat,” Will Rogers once said.  Ok, the street fight is over. Join hands everyone and sing “Cumbaya.” The Democratic Party will now unify as never before and clobber the Republicans in November.
(BTW, I’m not a Democrat. Now that we’re back in California, I’ll register as Peace & Freedom, the only socialist party in California with ballot status. Obama may well raise expectations so high that he will open the door for the possibility of real change – whether he wants to or not. Will he end the wars? Dunno. But I doubt he’ll support torture and the erosion of constitutional rights, and that’ll be major steps in the right direction. And he gets it about global warming.)
NPR just reported that Hillary Clinton will be giving a major speech Tuesday night in New York and quoted Obama as saying she’s run a superb campaign and he and she will be working together in November.
Speaker Pelosi directly warned Clinton supporters to avoid “”scorched-earth strategy” and said she will directly intervene soon if needed to bring the nomination fight to an end. Translation: Hillary will concede peacefully very soon or she will be forced to so.
Meanwhile, the once-rational Bill Clinton is ranting conspiracy theories about how poor little Hillary has been denied a presidency that was rightfully hers – hers I tell you, he spews – we planned and plotted this for years, and now MoveOn.org viciously and thuggishly raised money for another candidate, money that should have been ours as should the presidency. But no, the media, craven little weasels that they are, did not respect our sense of overweening entitlement and, get this, endorsed that Obama guy AND the party leaders did nothing to stop it. (bangs rattle on high chair and has a temper tantrum.)
You probably think I’m exaggerating, right? I’m not. Bill Clinton is definitely foaming at the mouth.) Really folks, It’s time to kill two birds with one stone and put both the Bush and the Clinton political dynasties out to pasture and keep them there permanently.
Keith Olbermann says it all, detailing Clinton’s repeated and despicable attempts to bring up the possibility of assassination of Obama.
A senator — a politician — a person — who can let hang in mid-air the prospect that she might just be sticking around in part, just in case the other guy gets shot — has no business being, and no capacity to be, the President of the United States.
Compared to Barack Obama’s Web-savvy campaign, Hillary’s is downright prehistoric. Picture Wilma Flintstone trying to best child-genius Jimmy Neutron in a race for class president. Clinton needs the party’s 18-to-30-year-olds to secure the nomination, but has no idea how to reach them.
Texas is just too tech-savvy for the likes of her campaign. But Ohio, on the other hand, remains mired in the mechanical age. So she still has a chance there.
“They need to send him out of the country for a long, long time. I am angry at Bill Clinton and I think there are other Hillary people who are angry at Bill, who felt that she was running a very good, solid campaign — she wasn’t the exciting one, but she was the solid one — and then he came in and made it nasty, and single-handedly pushed away black voters.”
— A superdelegate supporting Sen. Hillary Clinton, quoted by the Baltimore Sun, adding the former president “has screwed this thing up for her big-time.”
Maybe. Or maybe that’s just part of the plan. She plays soft cop, he plays hard cop. She apologizes when he gets nasty, promises to rein him in, but doesn’t. Except the plan isn’t working, is it?
Does anyone actually believe Hillary couldn’t shut Bill up if she wanted to? The country deserves better than this.
