Power outage

Transformer blew near where BlueHost, who hosts this site, is located. They moved everything into another building presumably on a different power line. While this is the second outage in a few days, they do everything they can to get back online fast.

I could move, but it’s not BlueHost, it’s the heat wave.

Here in the part of LA where we are, it’s been over 95 for a month solid, and usually over 100 - with no relief in sight. This is not perception, it’s been way hotter than normal, the hottest summer in decades.

Were the captured Israeli soldiers inside Lebanon?

From The National Council of Arab Americans blog

The Israelis so far have not been able to enter Aita al-Shaab to recover the tank that was exploded by Hizbullah and the bodies of the soldiers that were killed in the original operation (this is a main indication that the operation did take place on Lebanese soil, not that in my opinion it would ever be an illegitimate operation, but still the media has been saying that it was inside ‘Israel’ thus an aggression first started by Hizbullah).

Two parties move as one

From the wondrously named “Stop Me Before I Vote Again” comes commentary upon John Edwards and Jack Kemp honking about how ‘We need to be tough with Russia’ because, among other things, Russia is becoming ’steadily more authoritarian’ and ‘using energy as political leverage.’

Like the US isn’t? What planet are these two ex-Senators on?

In other words, [they want] a nice docile lapdog state like, oh, Britain.
