Cheney was loudly booed at a baseball game in D.C. when he threw the first pitch.
Loudly booed. In D.C. “Nowhere to run to, nowhere to hide.”

Lying Media Bastards on protestors in France forcing the government to back down.
I’d like to point out that if the students had just held peaceful rallies opposing the CPE, they would not have won. Period. American activists prefer calm, peaceful, legal actions, and we usually lose.
If Americans had lashed out like this in 2003, would 34,000 Iraqis still be alive today?
France has a history, going back for centuries, of taking to the streets. They are second only to South Korea, I think, in the ferocity and organization of their street demonstrations. Plus, in both cases, the demonstrators have major support from the populace and are able to turn out in huge numbers.
The nonviolent civil disobedience protests of the 60’s were ‘illegal,’ yet grabbed the attention of the nation and built the civil rights movement. They eventually won, and won big.
An organizer here in the States can’t call for, or even imply, anything but peaceful actions. They’d no doubt be indicted if they did otherwise. Nor would such tactics be effective. But as to raising a ruckus, I agree completely. The louder, the better.

Assemble Olympic & Broadway downtown, 10 am
The march will be dedicated to Anthony Soltero, the 14 year old student organizer who killed himself last week after a vice principal viciously and erroneously told him he would go to prison for organizing a walkout.
A teen who took part in an immigration walkout has committed suicide, and his family is blaming his school.
The Ontario-Montclair School District will not comment on the case. It is expecting a lawsuit to be filed by the family.

Motorists this summer can expect to pay an average of 25 cents more a gallon for gasoline, the government reported today, as market watchers say that $3-a-gallon gasoline nationwide is a near certainty in the wake of higher crude oil prices and mounting fuel supply worries.
And along the way, refiners’ profits are soaring.
A tiny few get wealthier as the rest get screwed.

I’m at a lot of demos and protests. Sometimes it’s noisy; speakers from the stage, bullhorns, conch shells, etc. So, when I try to call Sue or she tries to call me, often we can’t hear the phone ring or hear the other if we do answer.
My solution:
Create two Quick Note messages on my cell phone. These are short messages that you type in advance, then send with a couple of clicks.
So, if I text Sue a Quick Note saying “Loud demo,” she’s knows not to even try to call. After the demo has concluded and the noise subsides, I send another Quick Note saying “Loud demo over.”
