From the ANSWER LA ‘Unite to Defeat the Bush Program’ rally yesterday in Pershing Square, a young boy goes after a piñata with a picture of Alfred E. Bush on it.
The rally was great. Lots of music and spoken word; hip hop, blues, rock, thrash, as well as speeches. Multiple coalitions participated and everyone renewed their contacts and alliances for what’s looking like a fast-moving, important summer of action. Just in the next few weeks are actions against Schwarzenegger speaking at the Santa Monica College commencement, a protest against the head of the Minutemen in Garden Grove, and the nationwide actions at Posada Carilles’ deportation hearing - to name just a few. Plus we’re starting now to build for the big antiwar rally in downtown L.A. on Sept. 24.

Venezuela has formally requested extradition of Luis Posada Carriles, to be tried for the bombing of Cubana Airlines flight 455, in which 73 people were killed on October 6, 1976. The Bush administration is so far refusing to honor the extradition treaty between the U.S. and Venezuela, due to the U.S. government’s long-standing support for anti-Cuba terrorists. Posada Carriles was a CIA agent, trained in assassination, explosives and sabotage. Posada’s terrorist history extends for decades. It is time for justice for his victims.

BBC says podcasting could be a revolution

According to technology analyst Bill Thompson, “It is easy to claim the revolution is just around the corner, but there might just be something in podcasting.” Thompson is a regular commentator on the BBC World Service programme Go Digital.
“The quality of some of the podcasts I have listened to is certainly as good as many supposedly professional radio stations, and as the tools for finding and filtering what is out there improve we will inevitably see new ideas, new approaches and new names emerge,” adds Thompson.
