Will Sen. Boxer challenge the electoral college?

The San Francisco office of Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) denied claims that a final decision had been made on whether she would challenge the electoral college result on the floor of the Senate Thursday.

If Boxer did challenge, it would be the first time a senator has challenged the electoral tally since 1877.

The call to challenge came from Rep. John Conyers of Michigan, however he need a senator to back it.

A single senator supporting the effort would by law require the two chambers to meet separately for up to two hours and consider the objection. Democratic aides said Sen. Barbara Boxer (news, bio, voting record), D-Calif., might support such a move.

Boxer is the most liberal Senator and she just won reelection by a landslide. It’s her or no one.
