Tweedledum and Tweededee

From the debate last night

Terrorism

That’s why I will never stop at anything to hunt down and kill the terrorists

I have a plan that will help us go out and kill and find the terrorists.

And I will not stop in our efforts to hunt down and kill the terrorists.

In counter-insurgency, one of the worst mistakes you can make is to blunder it and shoot everything in sight, as that just drives more support to the insurgents. And shooting everything that moves is precisely what they are doing.

On Iraq

I’ve never changed my mind about Iraq. I do believe Saddam Hussein was a threat. I always believed he was a threat. Believed it in 1998 when Clinton was president. I wanted to give Clinton the power to use force if necessary.

Now, everyone in the world knows that there were no weapons of mass destruction. That was the reason Congress gave him the authority to use force.

Now we have to succeed. I’ve always said that. I have been consistent. Yes, we have to succeed, and I have a better plan to help us do it.

Yes the US lied about the reasons for war, yes I supported these lies. But now, even though the reasons for war were made up, we need to succeed in the war anyway.

Homeland security

And I’m going to put in place a better homeland security effort.

On Iran

I don’t think you can just rely on U.N. sanctions, Randee. But you’re absolutely correct, it is a threat, it’s a huge threat.

Note the implication that sanctions won’t work, leaving invasion as the unspoken choice of action.

Yes, the above quotes are from Kerry, the alleged “peace candidate.”
