Argentina gets deja vu watching California vote
Argentines are watching the California governor recall vote with a sense of deja vu and have this advice to offer: booting out your leaders won’t necessarily solve your problems.
Do they really think they can solve their problems just by changing leaders? We tried that. Believe me, it didn’t work, said Carlos Goleri, an insurance salesman, as he read the newspaper in a downtown Buenos Aires cafe.
“They’re turning into a banana republic just like we are,” he said.
Indeed, California’s problems are huge, and no one really has a clue what to do.
