Arnold Schwarzenegger is doubt giving the Democrats hives. Will he run? Will he wait until the last moment to file, as the LA Times suggests? Which would certainly be a shrewd tactical move, as the Democrats are nervously waiting to see if any big name Republicans run before they inevitably break ranks, dump their brain-damaged “Loyalty to Gray Davis” ploy, and run a Democrat who can win.


I predict that Democrat will be DiFi, Senator Dianne Feinstein, as her public comments about not running continue to get ever slightly more hedged.

Japan to send troops to Iraq


“The Japanese parliament has approved plans to send ground troops to Iraq to assist in post-war reconstruction.


Opposition parties objected to the plan on the grounds that it would breach the Japanese constitution, which prohibits military forces from being used for purposes other than defence.


Opinion polls suggest that many Japanese people oppose the deployment of Japanese troops. “

Rogue officers storm commercial center in Manila



Mutinous military officers stormed a commercial center in downtown Manila early this morning, placed explosives in the area and demanded that Philippine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and her government resign.


The fatigue-clad soldiers issued a statement that accused Arroyo of planning to “explode bombs everywhere” in August, blame it on opposition groups and then declare martial law”
