US denies troops fired on crowd

“Witnesses said US troops fired into a crowd growing increasingly hostile to a speech being given by the town’s newly appointed governor”

There have been anti-US protests in Iraq with several thousand people participating. Just a few peeps about this on U.S. CNN, but with European media covering it more extensively.

Update: The LA Times today has an article on this, U.S. Troops in Mosul Battle Mob, plus a sidebar from a reporter who got stabbed during the melee.
