Calif. Gov. Gray Davis say no new taxes for business

However he is proposing many new taxes for people. This to fund the humunguous deficit the state is facing.

All of the state government is facing massive funding cutbacks. Well, almost all. Prisons will get a spending INCREASE. This at a time that hospitals are being closed for lack of funds.

Pop Quiz:

The biggest campaign contributor to Gray Davis has been

a) The Campaign For Clean Money in Politics

b) Surfers for No Nukes on the Beach

c) The Prison Guards Union.

(I don’t really need to answer this, do I…)

MPs & Pete Townshend in…

MPs & Pete Townshend in child porn inquiry.

“UK: Former ministers reported to be under investigation in same operation which embroiled rock star Pete Townshend.” [Guardian Unlimited]

Pete Townshend (of The Who) said he did use his credit card to join a child porn website but that he was doing it for research purposes and is opposed to child porn. Uh, huh.

(Added later) This just in:

“Rock star Pete Townshend of The Who has been arrested on suspicion of possessing indecent images of children, police said Monday.

Scotland Yard announced that a 57-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of making and possessing indecent images of children and of incitement to distribute indecent images of children”

Police, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed that the suspect was Townshend. He has not been charged with a crime, which would come later under the British legal system. “

Townshend said a few days back he may have been molested when he was 5-6 years old, hence the references to child molestation in Tommy, the rock opera by The Who.

Note that he has been charged with making and incitment to distribute these images, something which goes far beyond his claim he merely joined one site to do “research”.
