A gene appearing in triplicate in some forms of corn enables the plant to block the toxic effects of naturally occurring aluminum in the soil.

Corn crops capable of being grown in toxic soils are moving closer to reality, new research from the U.S. Department of Agriculture and Cornell University is suggesting.
