GM uses expired Chevy Volt batteries to power houses

General Motors and ABB have built a modular unit that uses power from five old Chevy Volt batteries to power three to five homes for up to two hours. Now that’s recycling! Thus, one unit could probably the power on in homes during short blackouts.

The batteries are only 30% used when taken out of the Chevy Volt, so they still have lots of life left in them.
