Hurricane Sandy updates

From my sister this morning near Hartford CT, which is about 40 miles inland. “Wind howling. Expected to hit with wind around noon, full force by dinner. Winds on coast already 45 mph.” The Connecticut shoreline is going to get clobbered. It’s mostly second homes owned by the well-off but still.

This is BEFORE this Sandy hits, which will be tonight and at high tide.

NYC subways in jeopardy. A major concern is 100 year old switches that will not do well if immersed in salt water.
