US wind energy market on the brink of collapse

The world’s biggest wind turbine manufacturer Vestas says the US wind energy market will contract catastrophically if the Production Tax Credit is allowed to expire. Vestas isn’t exaggerating. The PTC is set to expire. Romney says he’ll kill the PTC if elected and Obama, as is his wont, mouths inspiring words in support yet does little if anything to make it happen.

The truth is, the US is slipping behind in renewable energy. We talk a good game but other countries actually seem to accomplish things without insane amounts of pointless arguing.

  1. And neither candidate even acknowledges the billions in subsidies to fossil fuels that keep those prices artificially low. Free market my ah— foot.. Let gas prices rise to world levels, say $8 a gallon, then see how good alternative energy looks!
