Further proof, if any be needed, that supposedly green goals for sequestering carbon, trading carbon credits, growing crops for biofuel instead of for food, are increasingly gamed and controlled by the usual financial parasite suspects who have little interest in helping the planet.
Green grabbing builds on well-known histories of colonial and neo-colonial resource alienation in the name of the environment – whether for parks, forest reserves or to halt assumed destructive local practices. Yet it involves novel forms of valuation, commodification and markets for pieces and aspects of nature.
These are the same maggots who blew up the real estate market and caused a recession. They haven’t changed. They just want products they can securitize so they can make reckless bets for and against them.
