The trend is now unmistakable. Coal usage is declining. Hydro is increasing as is natural gas.
Natural gas is cleaner than coal but still dirty. Hydro is renewable but big dams can create major environmental damage and sometimes even cause earthquakes.
All our fabled renewable energy like wind and solar, the chart shows, is still scarcely more than a blip, no more than 5%.
