California’s first open primary is today

Over time, how the parties adapt to the Open Primary will determine both their fate and the value of the change. But, what is difficult to argue against is the fact that both parties needed a slap in the face.

In the new open primary, California voters are not bound by party and can vote for anyone in the primary. The top two votegetters regardless of party will then face each other in the general election.
