Funding has been approved for an extension of BART from Fremont to San Jose. This means people in San Jose will easily be able to travel by mass transit to San Francisco, even if the route is a bit circuitous while those living in the East Bay and working in San Jose will find their commute much easier.
The bigger story is this may be the beginning of the end of plans for High Speed Rail up the pennisula as it will be much less needed now.
