Reflected heat from the sun powers an air turbine in the tower. Sweet. This is a genuine innovation in concentrated solar power. The power is completely clean. Other types of CSP use water or natural gas to power the turbines. But this technique uses no natural resources at all.
The business plan would be to do clusters of units – maybe tens of units, maybe hundreds – which would start initially from a small number of units that will help gain the confidence of this new technology. By building a cluster, you could much easier finance. You build groups, then you start generating income and then you build the next so you have a phased financing, basically, and a phased matching income at the other end.
Cool, but I want to see a complete balance sheet on the project, including land cost and relative efficiency before buying that CSP can really compete with solar PV.
