One of the best rock and roll bands ever, the MC5 influenced about a zillion punk and metal bands and were incendiary and political. They were the only band that dared show up to play in the park during the 1968 Democratic Convention in Chicago. Police raided the park and they had to leave quickly. The official report said what happened was a “police riot.”
The MC5’s music was a major soundtrack to my political life then. Thanks, guys.
