In the last 10 minutes, courtesy of Facebook pals, I learned that the Koch Bros. are responsible for school segregation and the John Birch Society. Really, people, there are a lot of reactionaries, many of them with money, in this country. If only it were just two bad dudes.
What bothers me is this single-minded obsession that’s taken over a bunch of the left. Their kind of politics has a long history in the U.S.
Yeah, some lefties apparently are gobsmacked to discover that wealthy right-wingers can have political agendas. But this has been going on for decades, the anti-communist witchhunts of the 1950’s being an obvious example.
Doing it a lot longer than since the fifties, but never mind, that’s just conspiracy talk.
Oh, like rounding up those opposed to WWI and tossing them in prison, that kind of thing???

I’m in the middle of a really good book – Lies My Teacher Told Me, the author escapes me (in the middle as I am forcing myself to take two days to read it rather than the one that is my wont) – which very nicely sums up Wilson’s war-mongering. I don’t think read anything quite so analogous to the eight years of Bush war-mongering, but never mind, that’s just conspiracy talk.
