Did the US cut a deal with the Sinaloa Cartel?

U.S. federal agents allegedly cut a deal with the Sinaloa drug cartel that allowed it to traffic tons of narcotics across the border, in exchange for information about rival cartels, according to documents filed in federal court.

The allegations are by a cartel member extradited here, and thus could certainly be suspect. But rumors of such a deal have appeared elsewhere too and involve both the Mexican and American governments.

In organized crime, watch who gets busted. You’ll often find that one family or cartel hardly ever gets busted while others get arrested quite a lot.
