Birthplace of democracy may ban social networks when it wants to

Britain is considering disrupting online social networking such as Blackberry Messenger and Twitter during civil unrest, Prime Minister David Cameron said on Thursday, a move widely condemned as repressive when used by other countries.

Apparently they’ll just shut down social networking for everyone, if and when they want to, because bad people might do bad things with it. And screw everyone else.

Apparently no one told Cameron this didn’t work in Egypt. He appears as dimwitted and heavy-handed as any Middle East tyrant.

Since there’s about a zillion social networks, as well as Skype which has groups, messages will get through regardless of repressive governments.
