U.S. may be entering years of political deadlock

President Barack Obama’s ability to get any significant legislation passed before next November’s election is all but gone and whoever sits in the White House in 2013 will likely face a Congress unable to tackle major issues.

That raises questions about what would happen if we faced a military or financial crisis or even a major natural disaster.

Maybe it’s not political kabuki. Maybe it’s just political chaos, and it’s going to be with us for a while.

The populace won’t stand for it. Continued paralysis from the fools and knaves in D.C. will invariably lead to serious social unrest as the wheels start falling off.

Obama’s speech this morning was tepid. We need to work together. Time is running out. But he was about as inspirational as soggy toast with no flashes of anger or using the bully pulpit, just a technocrat droning on about the need to be bi-partisan.
