Siemens just installed a test of their next-gen wind turbine in the ocean off Portugal. It weighs in at less than 350 tons, light for a behemoth with a rotor diameter of 120 meters. Depending on whose figures you use and whether it’s in Europe or the US, 1 megawatt is enough to power 300-1,000 homes. So, at the low-end, each 6 MW turbine can power 1,800 homes.
