The Left, Glenn Beck, and that vision thing

Byron DeLear makes the point that Glenn Beck profits mightily from his political stances and that much of it is just pure Hollywood, entertainment stereotypes wrapped in in dangerous political rhetoric.

Quite possibly all true, but the real job for the left should be not to fulminate at Beck (and Palin) but to present a coherent and powerful worldview that gets traction among the public.

Right now too many liberals and progressives are waiting for Obama to do the right thing while parts of the hard left bizarrely ignore the current capitalist crisis they say they’ve waited decades for. And of course the Democratic Party steadfastly refuses to throw any punches in return, probably because they’ve no clue what they actually stand for.

The left needs to find their “vision thing,” then articulate it.
