Alaska city to ship water to India

Sitka, Alaska expects to make as much as $26 million a year from selling their water for a penny a gallon to a private company that will load it on Suezmax tankers and ship it to drought-stricken India.

No word yet on the environmental impact on local resources of taking so much water or the huge carbon and energy footprint this will require.

Seems like there should be better ways of handling water shortages than to ship it halfway across the planet.
