Our foster cat is a mom

Sully Pop (that’s what the rescue place named her) was found young, pregnant, wandering the streets of L.A. She has serious attitude, hisses at our cats, so I nicknamed her Gang Girl. She’s small herself, and just before giving birth, looked like she’d swallowed a grapefruit.

I wasn’t really sure how she’d do with being a mom. As it turns out, she’s a natural and stays with them constantly caring for them. Although she knows and trusts us, she’s very protective of them, way more than other mom cats with kittens we’ve fostered. We can pet and feed her, but if our hands get too close to the kittens, she puts a paw over them and stares at us. Back off.

There are five kittens, one day old, here.
