The Economist. 2010 could be year of social unrest

But poverty alone does not spark unrest—exaggerated income inequalities, poor governance, lack of social provision and ethnic tensions are all elements of the brew that foments unrest.

As DJ, who posts here says (he’s lived in third world countries), if you’re reading a blog post on your laptop, you are the elite, because billions live in abject poverty under genuinely repressive governments. And now tensions in many of those countries are rising.
