Big surprise, Erik Prince of Blackwater was doing black ops for CIA

Vanity Fair

The truth about Prince may be orders of magnitude stranger than fiction. For the past six years, he appears to have led an astonishing double life. Publicly, he has served as Blackwater’s C.E.O. and chairman. Privately, and secretly, he has been doing the C.I.A.’s bidding, helping to craft, fund, and execute operations ranging from inserting personnel into “denied areas”

Um, why is anyone surprised by this? Blackwater is hardly the first private firm to do thug work for covert government missions so Washington can maintain plausible deniability. This stuff has been going on for decades.

  1. I am not surprised by this at all. Plus, doesn’t the government need a group to do it’s dirty work? It would be a great book to read some day if we could ever get the whole truth, but that is very unlikely.
