Researchers at MIT’s SENSEable City Lab have developed smart tags to be attached to individual pieces of your trash and send its location back in real time.
One reason for this is to determine if the trash gets dumped illegally or shipped overseas where it wasn’t supposed to go. Also, the more we know about where trash goes, perhaps the better we can manage it.
