Sears Tower to get wind turbines, go seriously green

sears tower wind turbines and solar power
Architectural rendering by Adrian Smith & Gordon Gill Architecture shows 66th floor roof of the Sears Tower in Chicago with proposed solar panels, left, and wind turbines, right.

They plan a massive $350 million retrofit, will cut electricity use by 80%, save 20 million gallons of water a year, and get LEED accreditation too. This for the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere. Impressive.
