Plea Allocution. Bernard Madoff. March 12, 2009

The Wall Street Journal has the PDF

“To the best of my recollection”, the fraud started in the early 90’s, says Madoff. Goodness, what a foggy memory. Yes, he was contrite in court today, but that could be jailhouse religion. And of course, he’s a superb and skilled con man and liar; smiling, being your friend while stealing your money – and doing so for decades.

But I’m not vindictively hoping he getting beaten up in prison as some apparently are. What would that prove? He will no doubt die in prison. However, he refused to plead to conspiracy, that means he’s protecting others.
